Where to party in Valencia this week?

Valencia has several nightlife areas, each offering a different atmosphere depending on your age, the type of crowd and the kind of night you’re looking for.

• City of Arts and Sciences: this is where MYA and L’Umbracle are located, two of Valencia’s best-known nightclubs. It is one of the areas with the greatest mix of local people, Erasmus students and tourists.
• Blasco Ibáñez university area: one of the main nightlife areas for students and young people. Rumbo 144 is one of its key venues, surrounded by bars and very close to the main universities.
• Valencia city centre: if you want to go out without leaving the centre, Committee Club and Convento are two of the main options. Committee attracts a particularly Spanish crowd on Fridays and Saturdays, while Convento has a younger, more student-focused profile.
• Beach and Malvarrosa: Akuarela Playa is one of the main nightclubs in this area and attracts a mix of locals, students, Erasmus students and tourists. It is especially interesting if you want to go out near the beach.
• Cánovas and Gran Vía: one of the classic areas for locals to start the afternoon or evening. Havana Cánovas stands out especially for its day parties and for attracting a slightly older crowd than the purely student areas.

That’s why, before choosing a nightclub, it’s worth deciding first whether you’re looking for a student atmosphere, international crowds, locals, the beach, day parties or a more central area.

In Valencia, you’ll find Erasmus students and international crowds in practically every nightclub, although some attract more of this type of atmosphere than others.

Because of their location, Rumbo 144 and Akuarela Playa attract many students, as they are close to the main university areas. Rumbo 144 stands out especially during the academic year for its student and Erasmus nights.

However, from our experience, MYA and L’Umbracle are two of the main meeting points for international crowds and locals in Valencia. Both are located in the City of Arts and Sciences and regularly attract Erasmus students, tourists and Spaniards on the same night.

MYA also has strong international recognition and was included in 2019 among the 100 best clubs in the world by the International Nightlife Association, which helps make it especially well known among visitors to Valencia.

At Committee and Convento, right in Valencia city centre, you’ll also find international students, although the crowd is usually more local than at MYA, L’Umbracle, Rumbo 144 or Akuarela.

If you prefer partying with a mainly Spanish crowd, one of the clearest options is Committee Club, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, when the crowd is usually over 21 and there are fewer Erasmus students and tourists.

L’Umbracle also attracts plenty of Spanish guests at weekends, especially as the night goes on, and stands out for a slightly older and more polished atmosphere.

For going out in the afternoon, Havana Cánovas is also one of the regular day-party spots among local crowds.

The Blasco Ibáñez university area is one of the main nightlife areas for students. From September to May, Rumbo 144 draws a large student crowd: Erasmus parties stand out on Wednesdays and student nights on Thursdays. On Fridays and Saturdays, the crowd remains predominantly young, although it mixes with older people going out in the area.

On Thursdays, there is also a strong student atmosphere at MYA, Committee, Convento and Akuarela Playa.

Convento, located next to Plaza de España, particularly attracts students from universities such as Católica and CEU, and usually draws a young crowd from Thursday to Saturday.

For a younger crowd, the most common options are Convento, Rumbo 144 and Akuarela Playa.

Convento mainly attracts students and young people around 18 years old. Rumbo 144 is another key venue for university students, especially during the week, while Akuarela Playa maintains a young crowd from Thursday to Saturday.

On Thursdays, you’ll also find a particularly strong student atmosphere at MYA and Committee.

If you’re looking for a slightly older crowd, MYA, Committee and L’Umbracle become more prominent options.

On Saturdays, MYA usually attracts a crowd over 21. Committee also changes compared with Thursday, and on Fridays and Saturdays mainly attracts Spanish guests over 21.

During its season, L’Umbracle is one of the most distinctive options for those looking for an open-air terrace, a slightly older crowd and a more dressed-up atmosphere. On Thursdays, it stands out especially for people who want to go out in Valencia and are looking for a higher average age than at student nights.

Reggaeton and commercial music are present in practically all of Valencia’s major nightclubs, but some rooms stand out for specific styles.

For house, electronic music and techno, the main options are the main room at MYA and Sala Club at Akuarela Playa.

If you prefer hip-hop and R&B, some of the main options are Beat at MYA Club, Petit at Committee Club, Box at Akuarela Valencia, as well as selected sessions at Rumbo 144.

This allows you to choose not only the nightclub, but also the room that best matches the type of music you’re looking for.

Day parties in Valencia also vary quite a lot depending on your age and the atmosphere you’re looking for.

Havana Cánovas usually attracts a younger crowd. Although entry is for people aged 18 and over, the atmosphere tends to be concentrated among those aged 21 and above. If you’re approximately 18 to 35 years old and looking for a day party with commercial music and current hits, it’s one of the options to consider.

The day party at Akuarela Playa has a different profile. Its session featuring hits from the 80s, 90s and 2000s mainly attracts a crowd aged 35 and over, making it an especially interesting alternative for those looking for a more mature atmosphere by the beach.
